I established the Cracking the Frame program in 2011, with the aim of offering a podium and developing new audiences for art documentaries. The program has been an astonishing success since its first event, a sold-out screening of Celine Danhier’s Blank City. Five years and nearly 50 film premieres later I am finally ready to expand the scope of Cracking the Frame even further and announce the launch of CRACKING THE FRAME PRESENTS.
CRACKING THE FRAME PRESENTS is a curated program of film screenings, artist talks, presentations, workshops and special events entirely dedicated to art documentaries and artist films taking place at various cultural venues in Amsterdam. This expanded program dedicated to art documentaries and artist films is presented in collaboration with art institutes, cultural organisations and publications such as Stedelijk Bureau, LIMA, LUX London, W139, PuntWG, WestWednesdays and De Groene Amsterdammer. CRACKING THE FRAME PRESENTS opens on the 5th of May at Rialto and continues throughout the whole month of May. The full program, mission statement and organisation can be found on the CRACKING THE FRAME PRESENTS website.
