JAAR, LAMENT OF THE IMAGES is the first documentary dedicated to the influential contemporary artist Alfredo Jaar.

Jaar’s works deliver important political messages and reflect urgent current issues, such as immigration at the US-Mexico border, the genocide in Rwanda, and the coup in Chile, Jaar’s native country and where his career started.

Directed by the award-winning filmmaker Paula Rodríguez Sickert, the documentary is a journey through his work, revealing his ideas and sources of inspiration through interviews and through his most discussed exhibitions and installations worldwide.

The soundtrack of the film is composed by one of the most trailblazing contemporary electronic music producer Nicolas Jaar, Alfredo’s own son.

“Art as an act of resistance. Art as a last bastion of freedom in a society that has become immune to images.” – Dokfest
